2cupschocolate cake, crumbled into bite-sized pieces
2cupsfresh cherries, pitted and halved
2cupswhipped cream, light and fluffy
1cupmascarpone cheese, rich and creamy
1tablespoonpure vanilla extract
1/2cuppowdered sugar, sifted
1/4cupdark chocolate shavings
1/4cupgrated chocolate
Instructions
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, vanilla extract, and sifted powdered sugar. Using a hand mixer or a spatula, blend the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and creamy without lumps.
In a trifle dish or a large glass bowl, begin assembling your trifle by layering half of the crumbled chocolate cake at the bottom. Ensure the layer is even for a balanced texture.
Carefully spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the crumbled cake, gently spreading it out with a spatula to create a smooth, even layer that touches the edges of the trifle dish.
Next, add a layer of fresh cherries on top of the mascarpone, distributing them evenly to ensure every bite is packed with cherries.
Gently dollop half of the whipped cream on top of the cherries, spreading it evenly with a spatula, creating a light and airy layer.
Repeat the process with the remaining crumbled chocolate cake, layering it just as before. Follow this with the remaining mascarpone mixture, then another layer of cherries, and finish with the last of the whipped cream, smoothing the top for an appealing finish.
Top the assembled trifle with dark chocolate shavings and a sprinkle of grated chocolate for a delightful and decorative touch.
Cover the trifle with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or longer) to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to absorb moisture from the creamy layers.
Notes
For an elegant touch, serve in individual glass dessert cups with a cherry on top.
