Ingredients
1
can
cherry pie filling (21 oz)
1
can
crushed pineapple (15 oz), undrained
1
box
yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
1
cup
unsalted butter, melted
1
cup
chopped pecans (optional)
1
teaspoon
ground cinnamon
1
teaspoon
vanilla extract
to taste
whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (for serving)
Instructions
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot and ready for baking.
Take a 9x13 inch baking pan and spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the bottom of the pan.
Next, pour the can of crushed pineapple (juices included) over the cherry filling, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the yellow cake mix with the ground cinnamon and vanilla extract, stirring gently.
Carefully sprinkle the dry cake mixture evenly over the fruity layers in the pan.
Drizzle the melted butter generously over the cake mix without stirring.
If you choose to include them, scatter the chopped pecans on top of the butter layer.
Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra special treat.
